Tenders are invited by the Forestry Commission from suitably qualified local contractors for a two-year contract to act as Woodland Resources Coordinator as part of the 'Beef, Butterflies & Trees' project, supported by Making It Local, the Neroche Project, the Blackdown Hills AONB and Natural England.
We are seeking someone who lives in the Blackdowns or East Devon, or knows the area well, who has a sound background in forestry and woodland management, and has a passion for helping woodland owners, contractors, wood users and the local community make the best of our woodlands for timber, fuel and wildlife.
The successful contractor will work across the Blackdown Hills and East Devon area, and across the supply chain from woodland owners to timber processors and contractors to improve the use of woodlands and ensure their conservation and expansion.
The contract is for a period of 2 years, and will require an average time input of 8-10 days per month. The successful contractor will be engaged on a freelance basis, but will have access to a working space and facilities at the Neroche Office in Hemyock.
